Condi unphased by blood on her hands...

Ann Wilcox, Ann Wright and I were in DC superior Court today fighting
our respective unlawful conduct in Congress charges. We got a phone
call from Leslie Angeline letting us know that Des had done something
behind Condi as the Sec State walked in to testify. Des had been
escorted out of the hearing room, and Liz and Lori had been pulled out
of their seats without cause and arrested. Still dealing with our
court crap we got another call about an hour later that Medea and Zool
are being arrested. Leslie heads to Rep Lantos' office to urge him to
intervene. A few minutes later Liz calls, "I wasn't doing anything.
They pulled me out, broke my glasses, my head is cut...". She started
crying begging me not to forget about her. I told her we knew exactly
where she was and that we'd never lose track of her.

Then Medea calls.
(We have a friend inside who lets us use her cell to call out.) Medea
is supposed to go to Canada early the next morning with Ann Wright to
bring to the Canadian Parliament the issue of US peace activists who
have been blacklisted and not allowed to cross into Canada. Now Leslie
is really pushing Lantos's staff. After several hours waiting for Cap
Police to determine the charges, write their arrest reports on old
broken computers, and hoping Lantos comes through, everyone is
transfered to DC Central Cell for further processing. (Capitol Police
lack a laser scanner. DC gov't services do a lot of the dirty work for
the Feds, esp when it comes to controlling unruly masses.)

DC Central Cell is a cavernous place and out of Lantos' reach so when we hear
they've left the Capitol grounds, we pretty much lose hope that
they'll get out tonight. We then get a call that Lori will be released
in a few hours but no one else. Believe it or not, Condi
wanted her goons to let her go. When I finally got to see the pictures
and videos of all that had happened in the hearing, I was blown away.
First I see Des approach Condi, her hands palms out - the blood of
Iraqi children is on your hands, she says. A State Dept Security goon
lunges forward (socks Rep Ross-Lethinin in the process) and grabs Des'
hands and forcefully pushes her away from the Sec State. It was the
most graceful speaking truth to power I've ever witnessed. And the
photos are flying around the world!

At a White House press briefing a reporter asked White House Press
Secretary Dana Perino about Des' action. "I saw a picture from that
hearing where a lady in Code Pink with red painted on her hands
disrupted the hearing, and I think it's despicable, and,
unfortunately, it seems that increasingly Congress is being run by
Code Pink. And we do thank Chairman Lantos for trying to restore order
to that hearing."

IF ONLY IT WERE TRUE!

Today, Des, Liz and Medea will appear before a judge. We'll be there.

What guts! One reason Americans are being controlled is that many are ignorant of the atrocities being perpetrated and a lot of those who do know "don't have the time" or the guts to get involved. My heart goes out to all you there who suffer for the betterment of our country. The words, "Thank you", just aren't enough!

I cried when I saw Liz so manhandled. And I am so outraged at the rough and unfeeling behavior toward her and toward Medea. Des is so beautiful and they are all so brave. I couldn't believe when I saw Lori and the rest drug off for no reason. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights has been terribly besmirched by this administration. Bless the sheroes of Code Pink. My heart is with you. love,Eliz

Since Medea was supposed to go to speak with the Canadian Parliament today, it has to be embarassing for this US government to say that she was detained by the terrible criminal act of showing the V victory for Peace sign. Probably Bushies would have kept Churchill from speaking to Parliament for giving his famous V sign, also. Love,Eliz

The women who got so close to the secretary of state is lucky to be alive today. Anyone who approaches an American official of this stature in such a threatening manner, deserves to be dropped to the ground without any concern for her well being. The only surprising thing about this incident is the fact that this lunatic was able to gain access and proximity to the secretary of state and that her security didn't respond in a much harsher and deserving fashion. Democrat or Republican should be appalled that this event was able to take place. Someday soon someone is going to die in a ridiculous stunt like this.

"I cried when I saw liz so manhandled??"
She was publicly disrespectful to our Secretary of State and then you are upset SHE was not treated with respect?
But I am grateful for code pink. You are the "michael moore" for the 2008 election. You will look like the loons you are and it will drive those undecideds to the GOP just like his movie did.
Keep up the good work gang!!!

Anonymous said...

I am also grateful for code pink you are the reason another rebublican will be elected. Thank you you bunch of lunatics

Ebike, don't you read the item you're commenting on? Liz was sitting quietly in the back of the hearing and then was brutally dragged out for absolutely no reason. It was extremely upsetting. It's obvious that everyone, including Ms. Rice knew there was no physical threat from Desiree. Really, when is the last time you heard that a Peace Activist purposely injured someone?

Anonymous said...

There is no way to know what a crazy eyed bloody handed person with there hands nearly around the secretary of state will do. Look at the pictures and video. She should have been tazed before she got anywhere near the secretary

Anonymous said...

If that's true, then why does Ms. Rice look so calm? Why isn't the response more urgent? Why did Ms. Rice request the release of this "crazy-eyed" woman? I'll tell you why. Everyone knows that Code Pink does not advocate violent actions. Desiree is a well-known activist and nobody was afraid. She had to walk through the metal detectors and, maybe, be searched, just like all visitors. Everyone knew she posed no physical threat.

Anonymous said...

Its irrelevant how well known this woman is. Security rules around the secretary are very specific and she did exactly what she was supposed to. She waited for her security detail and did not engage her attacker herself Believe me these scenarios are discussed and I can promise you that the attacker was very lucky in this instance only due to the fact that the capitol police were involved and not just the secret service. Keep it up code pink even the democrats will abandon you soon

When you have a President and his administration OF ANY POLITICAL PARTY who ignore the will of the people to whom they are responsible, then citizens feel that actions such as this have to be taken to get their attention. Since the main media outlets for the most part are in bed with this administration in trying to hide opposition to this war and the amount of terror, death, trauma and waste being caused by it, the only alternative is to use the tactic of surprise. I absolutely without a doubt know that this administration would never even listen to the 70% of the people who oppose this war, much less sit down with them to consider whether they have valid propositions. There is too much profit at stake for them.

Anonymous said...

Guess what you will get to go to the polls and cast a vote next november so choose wisely The constitution addresses your statement. If by chance a democrat is elected you will quickly understand that the change will not have that big of an impact on near term foreign policy

Your comment on media bias is so retarded I cant even address it without laughing Your message gets out because of the stupid stunts you pull. I agree that if you didn't pull them, no one would listen but thats because your message lacks logic and pragmatism You by no means represent a majority of americans with respect to your overall platform If you did you wouldn't have to pull these ridiculous and dangerous stunts.

Also why do you always pick crazy lookiing lunatics who look undernourished and recently furloughed from a mental ward, to do your bidding?

Typically, those who would like to criticize us hide behind anonymity and focus primarily on our lack of respect for decorum. As usual, it reminds me of a story. I have pretty sloppy handwriting, and we used to make signs around a warehouse that I worked in to keep things in order. One of the fellows that worked there, named Raphael, had beautiful penmanship. One day, my boss said as I posted an ugly sign, "Jim, your signs are always so ugly but the information is correct. Raphael's are beautiful but the information is always wrong!"

So, who was right so far about Iraq, wild-eyed,loony-lefty Desiree Fairooz, or cool-as-a-cucumber, 'I-was-the-provost-of-Stanford', Condi Rice? Ding-ding-ding, we have a winner!!
Des has been right all along, while Condi has been shown to have exquisite taste in shoes. As I often say, we all have our gifts.

I won't even bother predicting anonymous' responses. Too easy.

JimPreston said...

I don't really understand under what moral code it is a greater offense to hold up a bloody hand than to lie and deceive in order to start a war. I willingly challenge anyone to explain that moral system to me.

Condoleeza Rice made the statement "We don't want the smoking gun to come in the form of a mushroom cloud." Can anyone offer an example of a more recklessly irresponsible statement made by anyone other than George Bush or Dick Cheney?

Anonymous said...

I would never lend my name to an organization like this its that simple I doubt if pinky pinkster is any less anonymous that anonymous.

As far as decorum goes I think what your doing is within your rights just be willing to accept the consequences of your behavior

Jim so where do you live, work, your phone number maybe ssn? i doubt your really that much less anonymous than I am

Its your ideas that count in a an open forum such as this and i still dont understand what your end in mind is. If its just "give peace a chance" than crawl back into your fantasy land and smoke some more pot.

The one thing I've noticed in general about regular people who back Bush is that they are very easily led and very gullible and very afraid on the inside although they don't like to show it on the outside. And they love to be. They're terrified of "hell". They're terrified of "gays". They're terrified of "Democrats". They're terrified of "other religions". They're terrified of the terrorists and they want this war to continue to keep that fear burning inside. Of course those of us who realize the truth know that this war had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with terrorists and 9/11 to begin with, but baby, look at it now!!!

Anonymous said...

Not sure what you mean here but most americans arent afraid of any of the things you referred to but i do admire the way you shifted the discussion after the first discussion was put to bed so to speak

What did Des actually do? She put some red paint on her hands, held them up, and uttered some words- it was a completely nonviolent action. Juxtapose Des's actions with Rice's direct involvement in waging an unprovoked, unnecessary war that has created sufferring and misery for thousands, even millions, of people. Don't you think Rice should be the one getting arrested? Her actions have directly harmed and killed people, Des's words hurt no one physically. In times such as these when we are being led by a corrupt and violent government, the people should express their dissent through dramatic nonviolent actions such as these.

Really, Mr. Nelson, if you think your words convince anybody of anything other than your total inability to write a coherent, well reasoned argument, you are fooling yourself. The English language is a very powerful tool if used thoughtfully. Using negative epithets and nonsensical language is simply a refuge for childish minds.

Eileen Coles said...

Hey Half-Baked Nelson, just remember: those who talk about it the most do it the least. :)

Decorum? Why is that so important? There was plenty of decorum in Nazi Germany. Anyone who complains that a peacemaker violates decorum would probably have been happy in Nuremburg in 1934. Flags! Pomp! Circumstance! And no annoying protesters!

I thank God for all of you who are doing the most heoric of actions by
speaking truth to power and risking life and limb in doing so. I am reminded of the women who fought for our right to vote and the horrible imprisonments and forced feedings they went through. You are standing on their shoulders and I am overwhelmed with the connection I feel to all of you, (tears are flowing from my eyes as I write this) even though I have only been a follower and supporter of CODEPINK
from a distance while I struggle as a single parent of four daughters. When I saw
the photo of the bloody hands being waved at
Condi--I screamed with joy that this
woman had the courage and the strength to do this. I am so proud of every one of you. I am with you in spirit and tons of prayers. I will also make a donation asap. This is what democracy looks like! Thank you thank you for giving me hope for the future of this country and hope for the future of my four daughters. I wish I could be there with you, and someday I hope to be, as we all continue to protest and fight for the true spirit of America.
God bless you and all your efforts,
we will win in the end! Do not listen to those who call you fools or lunatics--they are ignorant of what is at stake here--if they were as well travelled and as well educated as CODEPINK, they would never speak such lies. Wage Peace,
and if those who profit from war do not listen, let us all raise our bloodied hands and arms and heads and scream for justice. For those of us who do not act against imperialism and lies are guilty of being accomplices with this corrupted, diabolic, immoral administration. Janet Wallet-Ortiz

Thank you for being in Congress everyday and for firmly standing your ground and speaking out. You represent millions and please know that you are not alone. Much Love to you all! Peace this year.

To Mr.Steve Nelson, first or all, why the hateful language? Are you incapable of having a calm peaceful intelligent discussion? Do you not respect others who may have a different opinion than yours? I respectfully disagree with you but I am not going to call you hateful names because that does not solve anything, and I would rather use intelligent words. If I may point out that Hussein already murdered thousands of his own people, with the help of the United States. Our government gave him the weapons, helicopters, and germ seed to develop chemical weapons. Don't you remember the infamous photo of Rumsfeld shaking Hussein's hand? Maybe instead of waging war on a country that was no threat to us, we could end the arms trade. Ending the arms trade would do so much to prevent terrorism, violence and war, and it would be a peaceful nonviolent step.

Generalizations really don't help the debate. Actually, I do have a problem with fetuses being aborted, and would very much like to reach the point where no more abortions are performed. I'm against abortion, war, and the death penalty. I'm a vegetarian and I'm against the destruction of our beautiful earth. I feel that I stand for life on ALL life issues. As far as hating America, I don't hate America, but I'm able to objectively and thoughtfully examine the policies and actions of my government, and if I think they need changing, I will work for those changes. There is a difference between being patriotic and blindly patriotic where one believes their government is perfect and incapable of doing any wrong.

Unknown said...

I forgot to ask why do you call me "mentally ill"? Why the name calling just because you think I disagree with you? On the contrary, if you knew how to engage in a discussion without the vitriolic name calling, perhaps we could have reached common ground on the abortion issue.

Anonymous said...

Since you cleared up the point of contradiction that is true about many codepink people I cant say your mentally ill In general I think many of these liberal agendas are so wrapped in contradiction that a sane person wouldnt embrace them But im glad to hear that codepink is prolife and not prochoice or maybe just you are?

Anonymous said...

I do stand by my statement regarding the hatred of America though. Ive seen it time and time again with these groups When/if Hillary becomes president what will you do? Start blaming the republican minority in congress? The fact is there is a segment of the islamic population that is focused entirely on bringing down western culture and replacing it with their fundamentalist platform. If that ever were to happen, many of the rights you enjoy in this country, as a woman would vanish. You dont have to research much into the ongoing armed conflicts in the world to realize how insidious radical Islam is. This is a war that will continue well beyond any stand down in Iraq. Iran almost certainly will be attacked in the before the primary season heats up. When that happens it will be for very sound reasons again. Many people will die, but it will be the right thing to do. The United States is not a bully, but were not gonna take garbage from every punk on the playground either. President Bush has been crystal clear on this issue and Clinton was as well. There is a real risk that our government and now almost every western nation is realizing. Listen to the French Prime Minister if you want another viewpoint. Im sure you loved the French stance on our position under Chiraq? Not anymore... If we dont take care of Iran, they will... Don't ya love em now? The foreign policy environment we are in is very complex, It is certainly not just about oil either. There is a multi-state sponsored effort to change the balance of power in a ever shrinking world. The United States is the leader of the effort to stop it and we will.

Eileen Coles said...

First of all "America" is not defined by the pack of lying cowards in the White House, it is defined by WE THE PEOPLE. Therefore it is not America we hate. What we hate is what the Bush administration is DOING to America.

Anonymous, what you say about "harsher and deserving" treatment is so ignorant. Rice's security guys (secret service, I assume) responded quickly and defused any threat, without hurting the woman or hurting anyone else. They were obviously better trained than the cops who jumped on the other woman and put her in a unnecessarily painful handlock, and could also have caused injury to others. But that's good in your book, because she "deserved" it.

It was clear the woman with blood on her hands was making a politicial statement and was unarmed. That's not me saying that -- it's apparent from the reaction of the secret service agents.

If she should be punished, that should be by a court, not a security or law enforcement officer, who should use the least force necessary.

It looks like the secret services guys did that, and the capital police didn't, so I don't know where you get the idea that she was lucky the police were there.
